PayPal Embraces Crypto for Global Payments

PayPal has introduced a new "Pay with Crypto" option, allowing U.S. businesses to accept digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and even meme coins as payment. The service connects with popular wallets such as Coinbase, MetaMask, Binance, and Phantom , tapping into a massive user base of over 650 million crypto holders. To attract merchants, PayPal is offering a promotional transaction fee of just 0.99% for the first year , a notable drop from the 1.57% average charged by credit cards in 2024. Businesses don’t need to worry about handling crypto themselves—PayPal instantly converts the received digital assets into local currency, removing the risks tied to crypto price swings. This move builds on PayPal’s push into digital assets, complementing its existing tools like the PYUSD stablecoin, and aims to bring crypto payments into everyday business.
